Q: What is Kailash Mansarovar Aerial Darshan by Chartered Flight?
Ans: This is an exclusive opportunity to witness Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, which hold significant religious importance in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon, from an aerial view via a chartered flight. This option caters to people who may not be able to undertake the physical pilgrimage or prefer a quicker, less strenuous journey.
Q: Which locations offer chartered flights for the aerial darshan?
Ans: Flights typically depart from various airports in Nepal, such as Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, or Simikot. Some services may also be available from Indian cities near the Nepal border, but Kathmandu remains the main hub.
Q: Do I need a visa or permit for the aerial darshan?
Ans: Since most flights depart from Nepal and the journey doesn’t involve landing in Tibet, a visa for China is not usually required. However, you may need a valid Nepal visa if you are flying from Kathmandu or another Nepalese city.
Q: Is the aerial darshan suitable for elderly people and those with health issues?
Ans: Yes, the aerial darshan is particularly suited for those who may not be able to undertake the strenuous land pilgrimage due to age or health concerns. However, individuals with severe respiratory or heart conditions should consult with a doctor before considering any high-altitude flight.
Q: Can I take photographs or videos during the darshan?
Ans: Yes, passengers are generally allowed to take photos and videos during the flight. However, the aircraft crew may provide guidance on when it’s best to do so to capture clear views without window glare.
Q: How many people can join in one flight?
Ans: This depends on the type of chartered aircraft used. Small private planes may accommodate between 5-15 passengers, while larger aircraft can hold up to 50 passengers or more. It is best to inquire with the charter service for specific details.
Q: What should I wear and bring for the aerial darshan?
Ans: It’s advisable to wear warm, layered clothing as temperatures at high altitudes can drop significantly, even in summer. Sunglasses are also recommended due to the glare from the snow-capped mountains. Passengers may also want to bring cameras and binoculars for a better viewing experience.
Q: Can we land at Lake Mansarovar or Mount Kailash during the aerial darshan?
Ans: No, these flights are aerial only and do not include any landings at Lake Mansarovar or Mount Kailash. The darshan is conducted entirely from the air.
Q: Do I need to book the flight in advance?
Ans: Yes, it is highly recommended to book your chartered flight in advance, especially during the peak season (May to September). Availability can be limited due to the high demand among pilgrims and tourists.
Q: Are meals or refreshments provided during the flight?
Ans: Some chartered flights may offer light refreshments, depending on the service provider and the duration of the flight. It’s a good idea to confirm these details when booking.
Q: Is the aerial darshan religiously significant?
Ans: Yes, many pilgrims consider the darshan of Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar to be a significant spiritual experience, even if it is done from the air. It’s believed that seeing the sacred mountain is equivalent to performing the actual pilgrimage for those who cannot do it physically.
