Kedarnath Dham is one of the most sacred and revered temples of Lord Shiva in India. It is among the 12 Jyotirlingas, as mentioned in Hindu Puranas, and holds great importance as part of the Char Dham and Panch Kedar pilgrimage. The temple is located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, in the lap of the Garhwal Himalayas.

Situated at an altitude of 3,584 meters, Kedarnath Temple remains open for devotees from May to November due to extreme winter conditions. During winter, the deity is shifted to Ukhimath for worship. Every year, lakhs of devotees visit this holy shrine with deep faith and devotion.

The temple is surrounded by majestic peaks like Kedarnath, Kharchkund, and Bharatkund, and lies near the Mandakini River, which originates from the Chorabari Glacier. The region is also associated with five sacred rivers, though Mandakini is the most visible.

The Kedarnath Yatra begins from Gaurikund, covering a trekking distance of around 16–17 km. Pilgrims can travel on foot, pony, or doli. The trek takes about 7–8 hours on foot and 4–5 hours by horse.

A journey to Kedarnath offers not just scenic beauty but also deep spiritual peace. Away from daily life, devotees feel a strong connection with Lord Shiva.

If you are planning a peaceful and divine journey, NTP offers customized Kedarnath travel packages to suit your needs.
