Day 1: Chandigarh to Reckong Peo

Day 2: Reckong Peo to Tangling Village – Trek to Ganesh Park

Day 4: Ganesh Park to Parvati Kund & Kinnaur Kailash Shivling

Day 5: Ganesh Park to Tangling Village – Return to Reckong Peo

Itinerary

Day 1: Chandigarh to Reckong Peo

  • Reach Reckong Peo (2,290 m), the starting point of the Yatra.
  • Check-in at a hotel/guesthouse, explore local temples, and acclimatize.
  • Visit Kalpa for breathtaking views of the Kinnaur Kailash range.
  • Overnight stay in Reckong Peo

Day 2: Reckong Peo to Tangling Village – Trek to Ganesh Park

  • Drive: Reckong Peo → Tangling Village (7 km, 30 min drive)
  • Trek: Tangling → Ganesh Park (8-10 km, 6-7 hours)
  • The trek starts with steep ascents through forests and rocky terrain. Ganesh Park is a
  • scenic camping spot with water sources. Overnight stay in tents at Ganesh Park

Day 3 : Ganesh park acclimatization day

Day 4: Ganesh Park to Parvati Kund & Kinnaur Kailash Shivling

  • Trek: Ganesh Park → Parvati Kund (4 km, 3-4 hours)
  • Parvati Kund is a sacred high-altitude lake. Continue trekking to Kinnaur Kailash
  • Shivling (3 km, 3-4 hours).Witness the 79-ft naturally standing Shivling, an important
  • pilgrimage site. Spend some time at the Shivling for darshan & prayers. Return to
  • Ganesh Park for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Ganesh Park to Tangling Village – Return to Reckong Peo

  • Trek: back from Ganesh Park to Tangling Village (6-7 hours).
  • Drive to Reckong Peo and check into a hotel. Rest and explore local markets.
  • Overnight stay in Reckong Peo.

Day 6: Reckong Peo to Chandigarh

After breakfast, depart from Reckong Peo for your onward journey.

Best Time & 2025 Dates

  • Ideal trekking months: July to September – weather is clear, though early monsoon (July) can bring landslides

  • Organized yatra packages typically run from late July to late August 2025, e.g. July 31–August 5, 4–9, 11–16, etc.

How to Reach Tangling (Base Camp)

  • From Chandigarh: Road journey (~320 km, 10–12 hrs) via Shimla → Reckong Peo → Tangling by bus or taxi 

  • Railway access: Chandigarh/Kalka → Toy‐train to Shimla → onward by road 

  • By air: Nearest airport – Chandigarh; no civilian service at Shimla’s Jubbarhatti

  • Inner‑Line Permit (ILP) issued by Reckong Peo authorities is mandatory 

  • Many tour operators include yatra registration, medical certificate, and guides in packages

 

Difficulty & Fitness Requirements

  • Rated moderate-to-difficult, with steep climbs and possible altitude issues 

  • Good cardio fitness & prior trekking experience recommended; 1–2 months of pre‑trek conditioning advised
